Big Babies

***The Blindside was a top box office movie November of 2009 and since then became a bestseller novel. It is mentioned over and over again in the book that the focus, Michael Oher, is a massive giant but with incredible athletic abilities. Certain details in the story offer that Michael's father was a small man and his mother no more than average. It didn't make sense to me how he could be so big and yet so fit. Or how his little parents could produce a creature so immense. ***Black infants tend to be smaller than white infants so it is especially extraordinary how Michael got to be so astronomical. Certain gestational determinants of Michael's mother, Denise "Dee Dee" Oher, must have been greatly affected during the pregnancy. For starters, Dee Dee probably gained a good deal of weight during her time carrying Michael. Doctors sometimes recommend for mothers able to expect smaller children to gain between 25-35 pounds. Dee Dee I'm sure did not see a doctor asking for this advice but an accidental weight gain is a probable factor of the epic being. The age of the birth-er also plays a part in the size of the birth-ee. Young parents averagely have smaller babies and the first baby they produce will likely be thier smallest infant. Denise Oher had five other children before Michael, all boys who of course are usually larger girls. (She had seven more kids, boys and girls after Michael.) The worst of all the components that play a part in the outcome Michael's physical build is Dee Dee's addiction to crack cocaine before and during her pregnancy with the boy. This addiction could have caused plenty of birthing defects but thankfully settled on just producing an abnormally large human. ***As for Michael's phenomenal speed and agility, they remain a mystery. There is no way a person could have such a huge build and yet have so much vigor too. His immortal powers are unexplainable. I believe it was Tom Lemming who said Michael's almighty skills were nothing he's ever seen before. The best guess as to how this became so is that Michael has been running his whole life. From chasing his brothers around the yard to sprinting away from the police. As Michael was growing in size, his stamina was strengthening as well.
